System Types

Aerogenic
A system that has alters that are directly related to the environment around them (including nature) or system members that form due to weather conditions or environmental conditions (e.g. thunderstorms cause large eruptions of new alters forming from others).

Astral
A type of system. An Astral system is a system with fractal and/or infinite and/or metaphysical in nature headspaces.

Bombogenic
A bombo/bombogenic system is a system in which the system member count explodes rapidly, or is a system that fuses older alters (not permanently) to form newer ones, which are, in turn, fragmented again. Is a synonym of pyro system/pyrogenic. (Note: Bombogenic is the original term. Bombotien was added as a synonym for searching convenience. Bombogenic was originally coined before the -tien suffix was coined.)

Circutien
A system that goes through regular cycles of gaining and losing members.

Collectian
A system without a designated host.

Dreagenic
A system type for when your sleeping dreams affect your plurality in some way. This could be by causing system members based on dreams, dreams showing you more of your headspace, or any other effects.

Ex-Multiple
Someone who used to be a system, but isn't anymore. This can happen for multiple reasons, eg: integration, all members leaving through gateways, etc.

Faciogenic
A system made up of thoughtforms.

Fluilocus
A system with an unclear or ever-changing headspace/innerworld

Fluitien
A system without a consistent member count, or a member count that changes frequently.

A system with an extremely stable member count; A system that gains or loses members rarely.

Inflanumeren
A system or magistien with a rapidly growing member count, that rarely or never decreases in count or loses members.

Maskless
A system that acts or is overt. It is easier to distinguish fronters because there is no "mask" preventing fronters from acting as themselves.

Metasystem
A polyplural system that is exceptionally large (even for polyplural systems) and/or is comprised of many subsystems, that may be large in their own right, the term refers to the fact that these "meta-systems", may appear or be more comfortable presenting as multiple systems or groups sharing/interfacing with one body. Intended for spiritual/metaphysical systems or any systems where system members have perceived and real existence outside the bounds of the brain, but usable by all.

Nihilocus
A system with no headspace/innerworld

Oster
Can refer to a system containing an Ostem subsystem or can refer to the "creator" of the characters who introduced themselves and became omates.

Phytogenic
A system that constantly divides other system members up, and fuses them back together after a while, or constantly divides in general.

Pluralpunk
A movement that focuses on embracing one’s plurality and all of its intricacies in a radically accepting way as well as challenging the accepted “norms” of plurality within their own system and identity.

Polynumeren
A system with 100 or more members. Has no other criteria or implications. Can be combined with quoinumeren for when the total factors in unknown but estimated members.

Primagenic
A system shaped around an original universe the system created though writing, art and other creative mediums. The members may be based around characters and/or concepts in this universe, and the innerworld is shaped around the original universe.

Pyrogenic
Can be any of the following: a once small system of only a few system members and a host that had a large influx of system members enter into the headspace; a once large system of many system members that lost a large portion of the system members to dormancy or something else; a system that has many system members that fluctuate in and out of dormancy or; a system that never has a stable amount of system members at one time. (Note: Pyrogenic is the original term. Pyrotien was added as a synonym for searching convenience. Pyrogenic was originally coined before the -tien suffix was coined.)

Supragenic
A system that existed previously but had its functions or members altered by or after a traumatic event. Can be used as supraneurogenic, supraendogenic, suprametagenic, etc. depending on specific origins. From “supra-” meaning above, beyond (in time).

System Origins

Aethergenic
A system that cannot be psychologically explained, or a system that has spiritual origins. This term is nonspecific between metaphysical, religious, agnostic, etc.

Araisagenic
A system that is formed through escapism and speaking to people who are not there, until they are. These systems can evolve into other origins, like parogenic. This can be caused by children hiding from real life by retreating into a world and being imaginative, and these "imaginary" worlds and friends can evolve into system members over time. After a long time of this, Araisagenic systems can make system members appear on a whim with only minimal knowledge, however this can lead said system member to have amnesia. System members made by araisagenic systems come from "timelines", which are also created by the system. They may be able to return to their timelines for short periods of time.

Congenic
A term used to indicate that someone’s origins are complicated. Can be used as a standalone origin or in conjunction with other origin terms.

Cryogenic
A synonym for quoigenic, where it seemingly comes out of nowhere, or like its coming from the "cold"; a system that seems to have frozen before (dormancy) and is now "thawing" (multiple system members) or vice versa; a system that flows between the above definition consistently due to things such as trauma or neurodivergence; a system that feels like it goes dormant in certain "seasons" or periods experienced by the body; etc.

Cryptogenic
Crypto, meaning concealed or secret, or referencing cryptids i.e. unknown. An alternate to quoigenic, meaning a system that doesn't know their origin.

Endogenic
A system not formed by trauma. This may be through Soulbonding, Thoughtforms or other means. This term is not exclusive to those without DID/OSDD-1.

Ex-Median
A system that used to be median, but has become multiple.

Intragenic
System members formed through continuous mimickery of real or fictitious people. Can be a form of neurogenic for disorders like HPD or BPD.

Metagenic
A system that formed for spiritual reasons, with a focus on non-religious spirituality (from the term "metaphysical").

Multigenic
A system whose origin is split between different origin types.

Neurogenic
A system caused by neurodivergence, to cope with neurodivergence, etc.

Nihilumgenic
Coming from nowhere or having no specific origin, i.e.: a system that formed from nowhere, having no origin like endogenic or traumagenic or anything like that, or a system that simply has no origin, just exists for whatever reason (nihilum coming from the Latin word 'nothing').

Paragenic
A system caused by having Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder, or similar experiences.

Pariogenic
A system that mostly made up of walk-ins and / or soulbounds. Pario meaning 'to bear, bring forth, to produce'. Functions as a -genic label for Gateway systems.

Parogenic
A system that is (usually) intentionally created using thought-based methods. For some, this may also include some metaphysical parts, often in the form of energy work. Also referred to as Tulpamancy, however the term Parogenic is used to avoid cultural appropriation.

Praesigenic
A fuck-you term, basically "I don't have to tell you my system origin, that's for me to know and for you to not make your business".

Primagenic
A system shaped around an original universe the system created though writing, art and other creative mediums. The members may be based around characters and/or concepts in this universe, and the innerworld is shaped around the original universe.

Protogenic
A system that was plural since birth. Also covers systems that have been plural "since [they] can remember".

Quoigenic
Short for the French "je ne sais quoi" meaning "I don't know what". Originally coined as a "fuck you" term for systems who don't want to disclose their origins. It can also be a system that either doesn't know their origin, doesn't care about their origin, or who doesn't want to label their origin.

Seelegenic
A system/member origin wherein part(s) or all of the system are split off soul pieces of one or a couple members. Can be categorised under Spirigenic or Metagenic (depending on the system) but is more specific.

Spirigenic
A system that formed for spiritual reasons, with a focus on/explicit inclusion of religious spirituality.

Traumagenic
A system formed by trauma, usually DID/OSDD-1 but is not exclusive.

Tulpamancy
